Dr. Paul K. Frempong

Consultant AOGC - Petroleum Commission

Dr. Paul K. Frempong is a Consultant at the AOGC Secretariat. Since graduation, Dr. Frempong has worked with several companies including Ausdrill Ghana Limited in Ghana as a Mining Engineer, Anglovaal Minerals in South Africa as a Mining Geostatistician, and Bryan Research Centre at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia as Geostatistical Scientist. Until his current appointment, Dr. Frempong was a Consultant at the Localization Department of the Petroleum Commission and has several years of experience in petroleum and mining operations, natural resources management and capacity building. He was also the Director of Petroleum at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum from 2011 to 2013. He also worked with Canada’s Energy Resources Conservation Board as a Technical Specialist in Petroleum, Oil and Gas Regulatory and Resource Policy Development, for the government of Alberta, Canada from 2005 to 2011. He obtained his Ph.D. in Oil and Gas Engineering from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada in 2004, his masters in Mineral Economics at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1995 and his bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa in 1991. Dr Frempong has worked for Petroleum Commission on several capacity building projects from 2013 to date. Currently, Dr. Frempong is leading a team of technical experts at the Petroleum Commission to establish Ghana Welding Bureau (GWB), a non-profit, non-governmental, professional association that seeks to represent the development of welding science and profession in Ghana, and responsible for the certification and registration of companies and individuals involved in the welding and allied professions.
