Ing. Michael Dedey is a mechanical engineer and fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering with over 25yrs work experience. Michael is also a certified Occupational Health and Safety Practitioner and a Technical Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and a Specialist Member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). He has worked in the mining industry and power plant construction projects as an OH&S professional. He has also served as the General Manager for a Shell/Total Joint Venture for seven years and has supervised the construction and setting up of a vehicle inspection and testing facility since the liberalization of the vehicle inspection and testing in Ghana. Ing. Michael Dedey identified welding as a specialized skill set required in Ghana after the discovery of oil based on his experience during the construction of the first thermal power plant in Aboadze Takoradi where some specialized welders were brought in from outside Ghana because the skill sets required were not available in Ghana. He has taken courses in non-destructive testing (NDT) as a first step towards becoming a Welding Inspector.

Michael has served on Technical Committees of the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) and has served the GhIE in varied capacities over the years. He is currently the Vice President of the GhIE and works full-time as an OHS Consultant training and assisting companies committed to implementing ISO Management Systems such as ISO 45001:2008, ISO 50001:2018, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
