John Bentil (PhD)

Associate Professor -Takoradi Technical University (TTU)

John Bentil is an Associate Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, Takoradi Technical University (TTU). He hails from Shama in the Western Region of Ghana. Bentil earned a PhD in Minerals Engineering which focused on Waste Processing and Management from the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, Ghana in 2018. He graduated with a Master of Science in Water and Environmental Management from the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, United Kingdom in 2005, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Project Development and Evaluation from the Han University of Applied Science, Expertise Centre in Built Environment, Arnhem, Netherlands. He also earned a Higher Diploma in IT Management from the Westminster College of Computing, London, U.K. and a Diploma in Minerals Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Institute of Mining and Minerals Engineering. He is a Professional Engineer, Chartered Administrator and a Chartered Management Consultant. Bentil worked as a Leading Laboratory Assistant at the Wet Chemistry Unit of the SGS Analytical Laboratory Services, Tarkwa, from 1993 – 1996, and also as a Metallurgical Laboratory Technician and Acting Project Metallurgist at Abosso Goldfields, Damang Mine Site in 2001 and 2002 respectively. Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and the Centre Director of the Jubilee Technical Training Centre, all of Takoradi Technical University, Ghana. He is a devoted Christian, married to Mrs. Kukuwa Bentil and has a son; Paapa Kwesi Bentil.
