Kwabena Larbi is acknowledged as one of the top African specialist upstream underwriters and a skilled trainer who has supported the development of the energy insurance industry on the continent. He has developed a reputation as the ‘go to person’ in Africa having transformed the Ghana Pool into a Model Pool. He is currently the Head of the Ghana Oil and Gas Insurance Pool. Kwabena has 17 year experience in Insurance. He has worked directly with multinational Oil Companies, reinsurers at Lloyd’s of London and London Market and some of the London’s top reinsurance brokers to successfully change perception and image of the Ghana Pool, improve underwriting capabilities, developed local talents and successfully grown the business.

He was involved in the drafting of industry guideline for local insurers to increase underwriting capacity and capability. He has worked with National Insurance Commission and Petroleum Commission to expatiate on upstream assets to be insured. He developed a benchmarking policy to ensure uniform pricing of common asset and singleton risks. He has also facilitated several energy insurance training in Ghana and within Africa and given several presentations on Pool formation in Africa and South America.

He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering, is a qualified Loss Adjuster and a Chartered Insurer.
