Samuel Kojo Afedzie

Head of Technical Operations, Edward Mensah Wood & Associates

Mr. Samuel Kojo Afedzie joined EMWA in September 2019 as the Head of Technical Operations with special focus on Oil & Gas, Power and Mining risks. He is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Business Administration (Finance Option) also from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, completed in 2001 and 2012 respectively. In the field of Finance and Accounting profession, he further holds Association of Certified Chartered Account (ACCA), UK Level two (2). Mr. Samuel Kojo Afedzie started his insurance career as a Risk Engineer and Senior Broking Officer with KEK Insurance Brokers in 2004. He became the Head of the Mining and Energy Workgroup from 2008 and subsequently became the Head of Technical operations in 2018.

His experience as a Risk Engineer includes undertaking periodical risk assessment for clients in the Power, Oil/Gas and Manufacturing sector. Similarly, he collaborated with Aon Risk Services to assess complex risks such as Volta River Authority, Tema Oil Refinery, Takoradi Thermal Plant and Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) which made him acquire significant exposure in this function.

In his underwriting role, he has strong technical understanding and skills in analyzing and interpreting various types of insurance policies.
He has attended several local and international seminars and conferences.
